carbonstuff: Mitotic division in a animal lung cell under a contrast microscope. It consists of two main stages. Karyokinesis : This is the main part of cell division, which is the division of the nucleus. It is further divided into four stages. Prophase : The nucleus of the cell breaks apart. The individual chromsomes are visible as the chromatids condense. Metaphase : The...

A photon is not actually a wave or particle, but is instead the measured transference of energy from other particles. Which would help reason wave-duality and interference patterns. My hand is broken, or I would have made a longer post about it.

brotonics: Did you know that the first ever demonstration of second harmonic generation was erased from history forever because the publisher thought it was a smudge on the photo plate and thus rubbed it off… They still published it. Didn’t bother remaking the plate. There’s just an arrow pointing to where the SHG should be.

Higgs Boson: “Welp, we didn’t find the predicted Higgs Boson. In fact, we still have no idea what it could be, but, if we change our definition of the Higgs significantly, it almost might look close to maybe what a Higgs would look like if we pitch it to the public that doesn’t have any education in our respective fields.” Dark Matter: “We didn’t find any...

anticharm: Still, much data yet to be collected, but enough to form a consensus… this is science afterall. “It’s the higgs boson! (Except not really)” From the article: ” scientists are not sure whether this Higgs boson is the one predicted by the Standard Model or perhaps the lightest of several bosons predicted to exist by other theories.”
